Okay, so I admit that I can be the Grim Reaper at times but, perhaps, it is because I am a realist. To that end, I don’t have a problem saying what is on my mind so here goes it……….
Every day when we wake up and our bodies are a day older and losing muscle, strength and flexibility. As much as this may seem depressing, they say that “knowledge is power”. So knowing that, you are ahead of the game. Fitness is a 24/7 job and it doesn’t take a vacation. Look around and ask anyone who you think has a near-perfect body if they agree with that statement and I am sure they will.
Visualize this as being the first day of the rest of your life. You are standing in front of a hill and you have a rope to climb it. There is a red line at your feet. You want to stay at the red line or above it all the time. Falling back on your exercise routine will bring you behind the red line and you don’t want to go there. Staying in the zone and on top of your game is where you want to be.
So how do we do it? We need to lose the “I can’t” statement that pops up in our brain every time something gets too big for us to cope with. Once your body hears that, you give it permission to give up. Remember that the mind needs to connect with the body in order to make changes. If you always operate in the “safe zone” and refuse to challenge your body, it will stay the same. If you want to make changes, you need to step out of the box, try new things and lose the judgment. Your body will hear “I can” and will respond to the challenges you offer it. Just try it – you might go places you never dreamt you could go!
