Why You Need to Eat Lunch

What is usually the first thing thrown out the window when we have a busy day of work and appointments?  Lunch!  For those of us on the go, lunch usually consists of a quick salad, sandwich, or even just an energy bar while sitting at our desk or in the car because it’s usually too difficult to make the time to sit down and eat a proper meal.

Although, it is ideal to not only have a proper lunch, but to make it the biggest meal of the day.  When we wake up in the morning, our digestion is just getting going and needs a small amount of easy-to-digest food in order to not get overwhelmed.  When it’s evening, our digestion is not only settling down but giving ourselves too much food to process means it will be more likely to become toxic as it sits in the stomach overnight. Also we don’t require any food for energy as the body is preparing for sleep. But in the middle of the day, our digestion is the strongest and our activity and need for nutrition is at its peak. The food at lunch has time to make its way through our system and be converted into energy for our use during the day.

This is why making lunch the largest meal of the day will help you to avoid the issues that come with weaker digestion (gas, constipation, indigestion) and will help you to attain greater overall health with maximum energy.

Best wishes for a happy and safe 4th of July!!!
