New York is filled with sidewalks covered with subway gratings. They stretch almost the whole block and sometimes are on two sides of the sidewalk leaving a narrow strip of concrete pavement to walk on. So here’s the visual:
I am walking down the street on the flat pavement and I catch a glimpse of some guy walking towards me or actually right at me. I begin to get the picture – he does not want to walk on the grating and he is not going to budge. Dude, if I am wearing my 400 dollar Jimmy Choos the last thing I want to do is get my heel stuck in the grating. Look at you with those cheap FLAT penny loafers from Payless. Why don’t you move over? What’s up with this? Is he afraid that the grating will give way and he will fall in????

Since I walk at least 20 blocks a day in Manhattan, this happens at least once a week. I repeat – I am over the first two but this one is too much to take. Ladies, let’s unite and fight back! Stand your ground and tell these men to shove overJ
