Your feet are the foundation for your body. When your alignment is off, everything suffers. I know I have experienced knee pain from time to time and lately my right one has been acting up. I already use OTC orthotics and the next step would be getting ones made to order from your Podiatrist. If your insurance company picks up the tab -- that's great. If not, this could be a very expensive option. Dr. Scholl's has developed a solution that is right in between and more cost-effective.
I have passed the Dr. Scholl’s kiosks for Custom Fit Orthotic Inserts in the drug store many times and finally decided to give it a whirl last Saturday night. I headed to CVS and looked for the large kiosk which was positioned at the end of the footcare aisle. I stepped on to the machine in bare feet ready to start the journey. They use FootMapping Technology and that immediately starts to read your feet when you hit "start". The machine prompts you through certain movements and foot positions. I especially liked the measurement on only the left foot and then only the right foot. Then came the rude part -- it actually asks you your weight! But you quickly realize that this is part of the method to the madness in order to get an accurate reading. My diagnosis was standard arches with low foot pressure and I was told to purchase the CF110 model. I snatched my orthotics off the rack and raced home to slip them into my sneakers.

Well, Sunday morning I was in heaven. I felt like my arches were floating on a cloud. I zipped through my leg workout and then switched shoes for Zumba. Not a twinge in either knee – the recent pain I was experiencing was gone! I felt that my alignment was spot on with the new inserts. So impressed was I, that I ran back to the store Sunday afternoon and bought another pair so that it would help with switching off between shoes.
So I would highly recommend them. Read the reviews like I did: http://reviews.walmart.com/1336/12442804/dr-scholls-custom-fit-orthotics-cf440-reviews/reviews.htm If nothing else, try out the machine. It will give you a quick idea as to what type of foot you have. Check out the website and be sure to download the rebate that entitles you to a refund of $7.50 which will definitely help: http://www.footmapping.com/footmapping/home/index.jspa
Again, they are pricier than the OTC ones ($49) but definitely cheaper than the ones your Podiatrist will make for you. Nothing makes you smile like a pair of happy feet:)
