Choosing a Swimsuit

It’s that time of year again -- the dreaded bathing suit shopping expedition! With Memorial Day behind us, we think of the approaching summer filled with the beach, barbeques, vacations and, of course, bathing suits. With all the different styles available, choosing a suit that flatters your shape can be overwhelming. Remove some of the stress and frustration associated with bathing suit shopping with some pointers that will make the experience pain-free………….
Remember to start using some self-tanner a few days before you decide to shop.  It will make a big difference as to how the suit will showcase on your body and give you a good idea for a perfect color match for your skin tone.  It will help combat the bright lights in the dressing room that play tricks on even the best bodies.  None of us are immune!
Be honest and realistic about your body type.  You will want to play up your good assets and camouflage your more negative ones.  Try everything on – you might really surprise yourself by finding out that a two piece is really more flattering on your figure than a one piece.  Throw all those old-fashioned rules out the window and just explore – color, patterns, fit and style.  Let’s face it -- the minute you put the suit on, you will know if it is a hit or a miss.

Opt for a style with coverage and support.  Make sure that the bra has underwire,  padding or whatever else you may need for your figure type.  Be wary of suits that skimp on strong elastic, especially around the butt.  If it is not supporting you now, it won’t be of help after you’ve used it a few times splashing around in the surf.

When you think you’ve found the one – test it.  Bend down, bend over, squat, do jumping jacks.  Will this suit survive a beach volleyball game and still leave you feeling confident, covered and in control?

Once you have your strategy in place, you will find bathing suit shopping a breeze.
