So the best kept secret in your gym is the
sauna! I bet you don’t even know if
yours has one. No, it is not the top
selling point when they are pushing you to join but it certainly is a perk. There is nothing like going in there for 5
minutes in the middle of your workout.
If you are weight training, a few stretches in the hot heat of the sauna
will loosen you up and increase your flexibility. When you return to your workout, you will
notice a big difference. It's the same idea as "hot (Bikram) yoga" but for a much shorter period of time.
I typically go in ours at Sky in between my
Reformer sessions or in the middle of my weight training workout. I especially enjoy it on an early winter Sunday
morning when the gym still has a chill in the air and hasn’t quite gotten up to
speed in the temperature department. It warms your bones and gets you
moving. Try three of the same stretches
and you will find that you will have a greater range of motion by the last one.
No, unfortunately, I did not find this guy in our sauna. But if you find
