Are you one of those people who sweats
profusely through your workout? Do you
ever look over at your buddy and notice that he/she is not sweating at
all? What makes us different? I have
always wanted to know. Recently Yogi
Cameron penned the following story on his newsletter and I would like to share
it with you.
“I once met with a client whom I first began to work with in Southern California in the middle of summer. As you might imagine, the desert climate led to a few days of triple-digit temperatures. When I arrived at her home, she had just finished a rigorous workout at the gym. She was sweating profusely, even though she had the air conditioning on full blast and was drinking large amounts of ice water.

It likely won't be a surprise to you that the
heat that defines so much of summer weather can accumulate within us as well.
If we are constantly surrounded by heat, we will simply develop a warmer
constitution. A misconception many people have about how we reverse this heat,
though, is that we can cool off by drinking icy beverages and by blasting the
A/C. But what drinking iced drinks actually does is put out the digestive fire
in the stomach that then has to build up with greater ferocity to digest whatever
food comes down next. This creates even more heat in the body, and by
disrupting our natural inner cooling system with the artificial air produced by
air conditioning our body has a reduced capacity to cool itself down. If, like
my client, we move around a lot on top of everything else, then we will sweat
even on the days that aren't particularly hot.
To keep your digestion balanced and ensure you greater comfort, try
drinking your beverages served at warmer temperatures.”
What Yogi Cam is trying to say is you could be
creating your own internal heat by trying to douse your digestive fires with cold foods
and liquids! What you need to do is to
keep your internal fires controlled in order to keep your body temperature
more regulated. Pretty interesting,
right?
