With
all our snow days, I recently had a chance to clean out my closets. What I was really searching for was the
warmest attire that I could find since our temperatures have been so cold. Low and behold, I came across a pair of CW-Z
Stabilyx tights that I purchased a few years ago. They are designed by Wacoal Sports Science
(yes, the same company that makes intimate apparel). Wacoal has spent half a century creating
clothing born of a deep understanding of the body. Combining its scientific
knowledge of the human anatomy with its experience in complex fabrications and
apparel design, the company first entered the performance sports apparel market
in Japan in 1991 with CW-X® Performance Conditioning Wear. Recently the company
launched the CW-X® brand in the US market through the newly formed Wacoal
Sports Science Corp. These tights are
used by runners, skiers, skaters or anyone else who exercises outside. I found
that they are fabulous indoors, as well.
Featuring
the patented Support Web™ design, the Stabilyx™ Tight provides optimum targeted
support to both the lower back/core area and the knee joint and surrounding
muscles for greater overall stability and power. CW-X® features two extraordinary fibers: Coolmax® and Lycra®. Coolmax® moves moisture instantaneously from
the body to the fabric’s outer surface where it evaporates at twice the speed
of cotton. Lycra® possesses the unique
ability to stretch, yet retain its shape.
The Support Web provides extra core support, stabilizes the knee joint,
supports the quadriceps muscles, improves movement efficiency and precision and
reduces muscle fatigue. I think the
concept that I love most is the feeling of support it gives the muscles and
ligaments around the kneecap. The
diamond-shaped opening of the Support Web should fit exactly over the patella
to provide the maximum benefit. In
particular, these bands that steady the knee joint provide for more stability
and power and reduce fatigue immensely.
This type of
compression wear has really become very popular in the last few years. Tommie Copper is another brand that has
developed a similar line. The market has exploded due to the fact that aging
baby boomers want to continue doing the sport(s) that they love while enhancing
muscle and joint performance.
Compression wear also provides relief from aches and pains:) A word of advice: compression wear runs very small so bump up
your size when ordering. Check out both
websites if you are interested in purchasing compression wear:
