My boss decided to get a few of us the Nike Fitbit Force. At first, I was skeptical. Another thing to wear that will be useless and I will just toss it by the wayside when I tire of it. I must stay I was pleasantly surprised.
The Force is a wireless activity and sleep
wristband that you wear all day long. I
only take it off to shower. It fits
comfortably around your wrist and you don’t even know that you are wearing
it. Once you have everything up and
running, you will be able to sync it with your iPhone and your computer. It registers your steps, calories, miles you
walk, floors you climb, your exercise and your sleep. You can log in your food, activities and
weight and all of that will be figured into the grand scale. You can actually “find friends” that also
have Fitbits and cheer each other on and compete. There is also a scale that you can purchase,
the Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale, and it will sync wirelessly with all your gadgets.
It measures weight, BMI and percentage of body fat.
I think what surprised me most were two
things: how many steps I actually walk
in a day and my sleep pattern. My
personal best for steps has been 22,,563!
I was most disappointed in my sleep.
This is always a work in progress for me. I average 5 hours a night and that is
terrible. I am always seeking to
improve that number but my lifestyle does not warrant it. I sleep well – I just need to get into bed
earlier at night:)
Would I recommend the Fitbit Force? Definitely.
It has given me a handle on my life by making me aware of my activity
and that I need to maintain it and/or step it up. Kind of like your own personal trainer!
